One Hotel Stay. $900 in Credits. The CSR Math.
Most cardholders know about The Edit credit. Fewer know that a single 2-night stay can fire four separate credits worth $900, offsetting the $795 annual fee before you've used anything else.
The Credit Inventory
Before the math, you need to know what you're working with. The Chase Sapphire Reserve carries five distinct hotel-related credits. Here's the full picture:
| Credit | Amount | Frequency | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Edit Credit #1 | $250 | Annual | Prepaid 2-night stay at The Edit |
| Edit Credit #2 | $250 | Annual | Separate prepaid 2-night stay at The Edit |
| Select Brand Credit | $250 | One-time (2026) | Prepaid 2-night stay at IHG, Montage, Pendry, Omni, Pan Pacific, Minor, or Virgin |
| On-Property Credit | $100 | Per Edit stay | Auto-applied at the hotel |
| Annual Travel Credit | $300 | Anniversary year | Any travel purchase |
That's $1,150 in potential value across two stays, against a $795 annual fee, before you count lounge access, travel protections, or the Exclusive Tables dining credit.
The Stack: One Stay vs. Two Stays
Stay 1: The $900 Booking
The highest-value single booking requires finding a hotel that appears in both The Edit collection and the Select Brand list. When you book a prepaid 2-night stay at one of these overlap properties, four credits can fire on the same reservation:
| Credit | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Edit Credit #1 | $250 | Prepaid, 2-night minimum |
| Select Brand Credit | $250 | One-time 2026 benefit, same booking |
| On-Property Credit | $100 | Auto-applied at the hotel |
| Annual Travel Credit | $300 | Resets on anniversary date, not Jan 1 |
| Stay 1 Total | $900 |
You're already $105 ahead after one stay, with Edit Credit #2 and most other card benefits still untouched.
Stay 2: Adding $350 More
The second Edit credit needs its own separate 2-night booking. It cannot stack onto the same reservation as Edit Credit #1. But it brings its own on-property credit, making it $350. Combined, you're at $1,250 in credits from a $795 annual fee.
Finding the Right Hotel: The Overlap Properties
The Select Brand eligible chains are: IHG, Montage, Pendry, Omni, Pan Pacific, Minor, and Virgin Hotels. The overlap with The Edit is where both credits fire on the same booking. IHG gives you the most options, with 6,000+ properties worldwide.
[Screenshot: AwardHack Sapphire Edit Hotels Map β map view with "Show Double-Dip Properties Only" filter enabled, highlighting overlap properties across the US]
There's a Double-Dip filter on the Edit Hotels Map β toggle it and you're left with only the properties where both credits can fire. Took a while to put together, hopefully saves you the headache.

Searching by brand and country makes it easy to plan around. A 2-night Kimpton stay in the $250β350 range is effectively free after Edit Credit #1 + Select Brand credit, before the $300 travel credit even enters the picture.
The Targeted Offer Layer
Bonus if you have it: Some accounts have a targeted $100 Chase Travel offer that layers on top of everything above. Check under "Offers & Benefits" before booking. I left it out of the core math since it's not universal β but if it's there, Stay 1 hits $1,000 and your combined total reaches $1,350.
The Trade-Off
You don't earn UR points on the credit-covered portion of your stay. At 8x on Chase Travel, that's ~$72 in foregone points on a $600 booking, a rounding error against $900 in credits. You do still earn hotel loyalty points and elite night credits, just make sure your loyalty number is attached at booking.
Stack the Dining Credit Too
If your destination has Sapphire Exclusive Tables restaurants, you can layer a dining credit on top of the hotel stack. The Exclusive Tables tool has them all mapped out β worth a look before you travel.
Points Boost vs. Credits
If your nightly rate is close to the credit values, take the credits. If the rate runs well above what credits cover, Points Boost ( 2Β’/point at Edit properties) on the excess can be a strong secondary play. The Points vs. Cash Calculator will tell you which way the math lands for your specific booking.
Quick Reference: The Maximum Stack Checklist
Before you book, run through this:
- Find an overlap property β must be in The Edit AND an eligible Select Brand (IHG, Montage, Pendry, Omni, Pan Pacific, Minor, or Virgin)
- Book prepaid ("Pay Now") β both credits require prepaid rates, 2-night minimum
- Check your Edit credit balance β confirm both credits are available
- Check your Select Brand credit β one-time 2026 benefit, confirm it's unused
- Time your travel credit β the $300 resets on your anniversary date, not January 1
- Check for targeted Chase Travel offers β log in and look before booking
- Add your loyalty number β IHG, Hyatt, or whoever, hotel points still earned on the full stay
Track It So You Don't Lose It
The stack only works if you remember where you are. Which credits are used, when your anniversary hits, whether the Select Brand credit is gone β it adds up fast across multiple cards. The Benefits Tracker is something I put together for exactly this β one view, every card, nothing slipping through.
